Rebecca Rice is a doctoral candidate in communication at the University of Colorado Boulder. Her research focuses on organizational communication, collaboration, security, risk communication, and critical/cultural studies, emphasizing that security is an exigency for organizing across contexts. Rice’s current dissertation work focuses on interorganizational emergency management collaborations. This project seeks to understand the communicative dynamics of translation of U.S. federal emergency response directives (especially antiterrorism directives) into local emergency management, which must both accommodate and adapt these directives to create collaboration across stakeholders. Rice has received the graduate certificate in women and gender studies and the certificate in college teaching from the University of Colorado Boulder. She received her MA in communication from University of Montana (2015).
