Fire Policy on the Ground: Building System Awareness Around Wildfire Preparedness and Response

Tue. 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., Centennial F

A more holistic and comprehensive approach to preparedness and response assessments are needed to effectively address the wildfire threat facing communities. These efforts require participation from multiple stakeholders and the use of many strategies. This session presents three different approaches to building awareness and action: whole community adaptation to wildfire, full disaster response networks, wildfire outcomes, and the full-range stakeholder views on specific wildfires. These examples acknowledge the importance of different roles, positions, and relationships among each participant. Although framed in the context of wildfire, applications to other hazards will be discussed.
