Melissa A. Barnett is an associate professor in family studies and human development and the Norton Endowed chair in fathers, parenting, and families in the Norton School of Family and Consumer Sciences at the University of Arizona. In addition, she is the director of the Frances McClelland Institute for Children, Youth, and Families. Her research program examines how contextual risks and assets influence family relationships, multigenerational wellbeing, and child development. The ultimate goal of this work is to inform policy and program development that improves the life chances of caregivers and young children from economically disadvantaged and marginalized communities.
