Assessing Earthquake Early Warning Self-Protection Reaction Time Survey

This project led by Keith Porter at the University of Colorado Boulder will assess the reaction time of individuals as they simulate the “drop, cover, and hold on” technique recommended to those experiencing an earthquake. Survey participants are asked to watch two short videos on the technique, time themselves performing it, and then complete a questionnaire about the time it took to complete the action and the effectiveness of the videos. Abstracts should address the use of climate data and products including monitoring, predictions, and projections or highlight best practices in communication (including translating science issues) and outreach, decision support tools, and preparedness methods.
