Research Symposium on Multi-Hazards around the Pacific Rim

The Association of Pacific Rim Universities is accepting abstracts for presentation at its multi-hazard research symposium to be held August 28-29 in Beijing, China. The symposium will focus on how science, technology, and government can come together to create more efficient disaster risk reduction efforts. Abstracts of up to 300 words will be accepted in oral and poster presentation categories. Post-Graduate Internship Program
Earthquake Engineering Research Institute

The Earthquake Engineering Research Institute is accepting applications for one six-month internship starting as early as June 30, 2017. Interns will work on a variety of projects that will increase their understanding of the field of seismic risk mitigation. Candidates should hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, science, architecture, public policy, planning, or a related field and be familiar with earthquake risk reduction and community resilience concepts. The Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Emergency Management Institute is accepting applications for it’s Advanced Academy, which will take place in four five-day segments between October 2017 and September 2018. Courses include a survey of emergency management concepts, application of professional style, organization, and professional issues.
