Alexa Riobueno-Naylor

Alexa Riobueno-Naylor is a doctoral student in counseling psychology in the Department of Counseling, Developmental, and Educational Psychology at Boston College (BC). She graduated from Wellesley College in 2018 with a degree in psychology and sociology. She went on to conduct clinical research in pediatric mental health at Massachusetts General Hospital and Shriners Hospital Boston. At BC, Riobueno-Naylor conducts research with Betty Lai, which is focused on assessing how to support the social and emotional wellbeing of young people affected by disasters. She is interested in using interdisciplinary perspectives and methods to address the individual and structural factors related to trauma exposure and mental health risk within marginalized communities. In the future, Riobueno-Naylor hopes to use her research and clinical training to engage in preventative work that decreases the negative impact of disaster exposure on young people's mental health outcomes.
