Alexandra Paige Fischer is an associate professor at the School for Environment and Sustainability at the University of Michigan. She is a scholar of human behavior and environmental change. Focusing on individuals, households, and communities, she studies how people perceive and respond to wildfire risk and other complex interacting climate-induced hazards, specifically in the context of forests. Her scholarship contributes to human-environment geography by improving scientific understanding of human behavior as a mechanism through which social systems shape ecological systems and vice versa. She has a PhD in forestry social science and a BA in cultural anthropology.
