Deborah Mills is Dewberry’s hazard mitigation and resiliency client manager, focusing on Dewberry’s national hazard mitigation practice, specializing in mitigation and resiliency for critical infrastructure, neighborhoods, residences and small businesses. Following 31 years of service to Virginia in forestry, water quality, and emergency management, she joined Dewberry during 2009 where she managed numerous mitigation projects. She represents ASFPM and the NEMA Mitigation Alliance on a variety of efforts, including co-chairing the ASFPM mitigation committee. She is the 2013 recipient of the ASFPM Jerry Louthain Award for Service to Members for her mitigation policy contributions. She has become an advocate for small business emergency preparedness planning and mitigation based on her experience serving on 16 federal disaster operations, including Hurricane Katrina in Biloxi, Mississippi. Deborah is active in her downtown Richmond, Virginia neighborhood, gardening, spoiling her rescue English Cocker Spaniels, and building disaster resistant Lego models with her godsons.
