Ellie Simmons

Ellie Simmons is a PhD student and graduate teaching assistant in the Department of Sociology at the University of Colorado Boulder (CU). Prior to joining CU in 2024, she earned her bachelor's degree with dual majors in sociology and justice and society from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. Her research interests include disaster literacy, hazard preparedness and response in educational spaces, student agency, and youth-adult partnerships in hazard education. She also has previous research experience on projects broadly related to sex and gender, religion, organizational decline, and climate change activism.
