Henry Smart is a military veteran with more than 15 years of service with the U.S. Marine Corps and the National Guard. During his professional career, he has acquired knowledge and experience in the areas of information technology, contracts management, nonprofit management, and social and public administration. He holds a master's in social administration from Columbia University and a bachelor's in social work from Morgan State University. After completing his studies at Columbia, he provided program management for various non-profit organizations in the New York City metropolitan area. He has also worked as an independent consultant, providing workshop facilitation on topics pertaining to professional and personal development.
Smart is currently pursuing a PhD in public administration and public affairs at Virginia Tech. His current research focuses on colorism and public practices, narratives related to state and local policy agreement, and the intersection of presidential pork and disaster preparedness.
