Jay Stalnacker is the Boulder County Wildland Fire Management Officer. He coordinates all-hazard and wildland fire preparedness, mitigation and response. Stalnacker’s current national emergency incident qualifications include Type 2 Operations Chief, Type 3 Incident Commander, Division Supervisor and Type 2 Burn Boss. He is currently a Colorado-certified Type 3 All-Hazards Incident Commander and serves in this role for the Boulder County Type 3 Incident Management Team.

Stalnacker was formerly a State of Colorado Police Officer and is an Emergency Medical Technician. He has served on the Boulder County Sheriff SWAT Team as a tactical medic. He also proudly served as an elite U.S. Forest Service smokejumper. Stalnacker has received two silver star medals, a bronze star medal, and a meritorious service medal for acts of courage in the line of duty. He holds a bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership and an associate’s in emergency management and planning.
