Lu Zhang is an assistant professor in the Moss Department of Construction Management at Florida International University. She earned her PhD in civil engineering with a specialization in construction management from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2016. She holds a master's of engineering in construction management from the University of Michigan, and a bachelor's of management in construction management from Tongji University, China.

Zhang’s research interests include sustainable building and infrastructure systems, disaster resilient built environments, human-building interactions, human-centered value analysis, building and civil information modeling, semantic information modeling, and smart building and infrastructure monitoring and analysis. Her research in these areas is supported by research grants from different agencies, including National Science Foundation, Florida Department of Transportation, U.S. Department of Transportation, Engineering Information Foundation, and Natural Hazards Center.
