Paola Sofía Méndez Ruiz completed her bachelor's degree in psychology with minors in biology and cognitive sciences at Georgetown University, graduating in May 2018. She then started medical school at the University of Puerto Rico Medical Sciences Campus and will graduate in June 2022. After that, she will complete her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at University of Texas Southwestern. During medical school, she was selected to be a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honors Society and the Golden Humanism Honor Society.
