Peter M. Madsen (Ph.D. UC Berkeley) is a professor of management. His research focuses on organizational learning, particularly on how organizations and their members learn from failures, accidents, and near-misses. Madsen also studies the interplay between safety, environmental, social, and financial goals in organizations. He has examined these issues in the aerospace, airline, automobile, healthcare, mining, and chemicals industries. This work has been published in top management and safety journals, including: Academy of Management Journal, Organization Science, Journal of Management, Harvard Business Review, and Quality and Safety in Health Care. Madsen’s research has been awarded: Fulbright Award, Western Academy of Management Ascendant Scholar Award, Academy of Management Careers Division Best Paper, Western Academy of Management Best Paper, Academy of Management Best Paper Finalist, and Emerald Management Reviews Citation of Excellence.
