Shinya Uekusa is currently a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Auckland (department of sociology) in New Zealand. His main research interest is in social vulnerability and resilience in disasters, focusing on immigrants, refugees and linguistic minorities in Canterbury, New Zealand and Tohoku, Japan.
