Apple? Orange? Natural Hazard and CBRN Resilience Compared
Mon. 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., Interlocken A
Communities across the United States face low probability, high consequence risks from both natural and chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) hazards. To help communities effectively invest scarce resources in building resilience, we need to determine if resilience to naturally occurring disasters and to incidents involving CBRN differs — and if so, how? This session explores whether different disasters also affect community resilience in distinct ways using a systems approach that allows us to discuss how variables as seemingly unrelated as institutional trust, health vulnerability, and environmental legacies might interact to produce system-wide ramifications.
