Barry Periatt
Hawaii County Civil Defense
Barry Perriatt has twenty-nine years of experience in the military working in operations, logistics, and civil military operations. Perriatt transitioned into emergency management nineteen years ago when he began working for the Hawaii County Civil Defense Agency. As an emergency manager, he has had the pleasure of planning for and responding to volcanic eruptions, tropical cyclones, earthquakes, flooding rains, windstorms, tsunamis, wildland fires, and all the secondary and tertiary effects of those hazards. Perriatt's primary responsibility in emergency management is strategic and operational planning for the County of Hawaii where he has coordinated the review and revision of the multi-hazard mitigation plan, the Agency's Strategic Plan, the comprehensive emergency management plan, the emergency operations plan, and numerous operational procedures. Along with planning responsibilities he also manages the training and certification program under the integrated preparedness plan. It's a small organization; we wear a lot of hats.
