Denise Chavez Reyes is a PhD Candidate in the geography and geospatial sciences program at Kansas State University. Currently, she is finalizing her dissertation research which focuses on understanding composite indicators internal and external validity by utilizing large datasets to conduct spatial and econometric analysis. Beyond her dissertation work, Reyes is engaged in other projects conducting quantitative and qualitative research to explore population health, and community resilience around drought and wildfires. She is actively involved in developing policy briefs, designing dashboards, and writing peer-reviewed manuscripts with the goal to generate actionable evidence supporting policies and interventions that protect vulnerable populations from environmental exposures and climate-related disasters.
