Divya Chandrasekhar
Divya Chandrasekhar is chair an associate professor of the Department of City and Metropolitan Planning and a Presidential Societal Impact Scholar at the University of Utah. She has expertise in community recovery from disasters. Her research has examined post-disaster community participation and capacity building, networking and coordination among recovery institutions, and disaster recovery policy in South and Southeast Asia, the Caribbean, and the United States. Chandrasekhar's research has been funded by National Science Foundation, the National Institute of Transportation and Communities, the U.S. Department of the Interior, and the Natural Hazards Center.
Chandrasekhar is a member of the former Utah Seismic Safety Commission, the Utah State Hazard Mitigation Team and the Resilient America Roundtable of the National Academies. She holds a master's and PhD in urban and regional planning from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
