Eileen Shader leads American Rivers’ Floodplain Restoration team in restoring 100,000 acres of floodplain by 2030 and increasing the pace and scale of floodplain restoration across the nation by advocating for an integrated approach to floodplain management that reduces flood risk and restores naturally functioning floodplains. Shader is a Certified Floodplain Manager© who champions protection and restoration of floodplains as a leader in the Natural Floodplain Functions Alliance and as the Watershed Pod facilitator of the Association of State Floodplain Managers. Shader has a Master of Arts in environmental and resource policy from George Washington University and a Bachelor of Science in environmental science from Elizabethtown College. She lives in Camp Hill Pennsylvania and enjoys spending time on her local creeks and rivers with her family and friends.
