Imani Daniel
Virgin Islands Institute for Social Impact, Opulence, and Noetics
Imani Daniel is an ancestral Virgin Islander and systems strategist advancing decolonization, self-determination, and community-driven economies across small island communities. She is the Founder and Primary Visionary of the Virgin Islands Institute for Social Impact Opulence and Noetics, Inc. (VIISION), where she is building infrastructure that rewards good behavior, redistributes resources, and operationalizes social impact. Through VIISION, Daniel built EmGar: a digital platform designed to fuel a new circular economy where service is valued, communities are resourced, and power is returned to the people.
She previously served as the Executive Director of the St. Thomas Recovery Team following 2017 Hurricanes Irma and Maria, helping to coordinate over $5 million in resources and 8500+ volunteer hours of community-led recovery. With over a decade of experience across disaster recovery, food sovereignty, and public health, Daniel pushes cross-sector efforts rooted in equity and self-determination.
In 2024, Daniel was elected as a delegate and now serves as Secretary on the Executive Committee, chair of the Finance and Public Services Committee, and vice-chair of the Government Structure Committee at the Constitutional Convention of the Virgin Islands, where she is helping to draft a people-centered Constitution grounded in liberation, economic equity, and climate resilience.
Daniel firmly believes that the future of the Virgin Islands (and similarly situated communities) must be locally owned, globally supported, and radically reimagined. She works smart, rests well, and finds joy in actively building with those ready to move resources, shift power, and co-create what can and must come next.
