Jeff Baranyi

Jeff Baranyi is the lead solution engineer on the Public Safety Team for Emergency Management and Disaster Response. He is responsible for working closely with the community to discover, develop, and promote best practices in the use of Arc-Geographic Information System (GIS) to support the emergency management mission. Baranyi also helps lead our Esri Disaster Response Program which provides GIS support to organizations worldwide responding to disasters or crisis.
In 2023, Baranyi was honored to receive the National Alliance for Public Safety GIS Award for Excellence in Public Safety GIS for his work in support of the GIS Disaster Response Community and being “the hub that connects people across the country in times of need." Baranyi also completed the Big City Emergency Managers Emerging Leaders program as a part of the 2017 – 2018 cohort.
He has been with Esri since 2000 and started as a consultant in the Professional Services Group. Prior to joining Esri, Baranyi was a GIS Analyst for the Environmental Research Institute of Michigan where he supported a variety of emergency management projects including providing onsite operational GIS support for the Pacific Disaster Center in Maui, Hawaii. He holds a Master of Engineering in applied remote sensing and geographic information systems and a Bachelor of Science in biology from the University of Michigan.
