Kelly Stettner

Black River Action Team

Kelly Stettner, addicted to rivers, fascinated by dragonflies, and always ready to roll up her sleeves and/or get her feet wet, founded the all-volunteer Black River Action Team (BRAT) in 2000 as a one-time cleanup of a small stretch of a local river. Since then, she has cultivated a full-service watershed team that conducts a broad range of activities, events, projects, and programs that spans the 200-square-mile watershed and embraces hundreds of volunteers...all in her spare time.

After nearly three decades behind a desk, Stettner is currently the part-time district manager for the local Conservation District and continues to carve out time for BRAT with a long-term goal of segueing into her Black River work full-time.

Stettner also has community connections through her current and former roles as a homeschool educator and admin of the local homeschool social media group, wrestling team manager, Justice of the Peace/notary public, and vendor of her home-made fudge.
