Maraya Ben-Joseph
Olohana Foundation
Maraya Ben-Joseph is the point of contact for the Olohana Foundation Rising Voices Hub Grant and serves as the New Projects Director and board treasurer for the Olohana Foundation. Bilingual in English and Spanish, she is a key member of the Olohana Foundation at international conferences, working with various institutions, locally, statewide, nationally and internationally to address the climate crisis that is impacting native and rural communities. In 2013, A graduate from Prescott College with a degree in Community Capacity Building: Native and Indigenous Practice, she utilizes her skills as an active member of the Pacific Risk Management Ohana Indigenous Knowledge Hui(working group), as well as the “Momitoring Program”: mothers participating directly in climate observation, and The Virtually Interconnected Community Tree Gardens Program. Raised in a multicultural, multilingual environment, she integrates diverse perspectives into her work at the Olohana Foundation, as a teacher, a farmer, a mother, a wife, a musician and a lover of life.
