Rubayet Bin Mostafiz, PhD, Certified Floodplain Manager, Geographic Information Systems Professional, is an assistant professor and Assistant Director of Research at the Louisiana State University (LSU) AgCenter’s LaHouse Resource Center, where he leads interdisciplinary work at the intersection of engineering, geospatial science, and community resilience. His research focuses on multi‑hazard risk assessment, spatial analysis, and the development of decision‑support tools that strengthen climate adaptation, sustainable housing, and environmental resilience across the Gulf Coast. His role includes advancing applied research, guiding Extension initiatives, and supporting statewide and regional collaborations that translate science into actionable strategies for communities and policymakers.

Mostafiz holds a Doctor of Philosophy in oceanography and coastal sciences from Louisiana State University, where he specialized in coastal hazards and resilience modeling. He also earned a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science in geography and environmental science, as well as a master’s degree in economics from the University of Dhaka, grounding his work in both environmental systems and socioeconomic analysis.
