Scott Morrill currently works for the West Region Wildfire Council (WRWC), a non-profit organization based in Ridgway, Colorado he helped found fifteen years ago. The WRWC is dedicated to reducing wildfire risk and increasing community resiliency to wildfires. Morrill previously served as the Gunnison County emergency manager, a position he held for over 20 years. As Emergency Manager, he was responsible for developing and updating various preparedness and response plans and activating the Emergency Operations Center during disasters. Part of his duties as Emergency Manager included disaster planning presentations to students at Gunnison High School, and the Gunnison and Crested Butte Middle Schools through the Hazard Education, Awareness, and Resilience Task Force. Morrill still lives in Gunnison with his wife and five dogs. He and his wife rescue unwanted dogs. Morrill enjoys hiking, biking and he collects old toy cars.
