Marcia McNutt, National Academy of Sciences

The Natural Hazards Center is excited to announce that President of the National Academy of Sciences Marcia McNutt will be this year’s keynote speaker at the Natural Hazards Workshop.

McNutt will speak about the philosophy of convergence from her considerable on-the-ground experience directing research and response efforts. Learn more about McNutt and her planned keynote address on the Natural Hazards Workshop website.

In addition to McNutt’s address, we have lots of other offerings related to this year’s theme of Convergence. Please take a look at the schedule and the details below. There’s still time to register to join us this summer from July 14-17 in Broomfield, Colorado! If you have any questions or require additional information, please call the Center at (303) 492-6818 or email us. We look forward to seeing you then!

Then on Monday evening, join us for an special dramatic presentation, After the Storm, which portrays the stories of survivors of the 2013 tornado in Moore, Oklahoma, and the trials they faced following the event.

Later in the week, we’ll hold the Tuesday evening barbecue on the University of Colorado Boulder campus where you can mingle and enjoy great food and a breathtaking view of the mountains. On Wednesday morning, you can put on your running (or walking) shoes and join the Bill Anderson Fund for the fifth annual Disaster Dash 5K.

Researchers Meeting: Please join us for our annual collaboration with the International Research Committee on Disasters (IRCD) as we host the add-on Researchers Meeting. This year’s program will focus on interdisciplinary research and the role it will play in the future of hazard and disasters science.
