David Mendonca directs the National Science Foundation’s program in Infrastructure Management and Extreme Events, and is a member of the program teams of two other NSF programs (CRISP, Smart & Connected Communities). While at NSF, he is on leave from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute’s Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering. His research develops and applies systems engineering principles to understand and extend human decision making processes in high-stakes, time-constrained conditions.
