Elena Martínez-Torres is a social community psychologist. She earned her bachelor’s degree in social sciences with emphasis on social action research from the University of Puerto Rico, Humacao, and her master’s degree in social community psychology from the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras. Her work at Agenda Ciudadana has focused on coordinating capacity-building programs in citizens’ competencies; facilitating cross-sector dialogues; and being part of several participatory-action research teams working with citizens' competencies, early childhood ecosystem, and sustained dialogue. In 2018 Martínez-Torres coordinated Oasis: El Este se fortalece, a capacity-building project that strengthened emotional competencies in communities devastated by hurricanes Irma and María.
