Quality Public Participation in Hazard Mitigation Planning

Involving the public in hazard mitigation and disaster resilience is a challenge across the globe, but there are organizations that attempt to counter this issue by actively promoting citizen involvement. In this session, panelists will discuss ways to increase public input and the successes and challenges faced in promoting grassroots involvement. Specifically, panelists will attempt to define successful community participation and what a successful participation and engagement process looks like. Examples of their experiences in community participation and disaster resilience will be included.
