Enhancing Resilience: Major Initiatives
Tue. 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., Interlocken A/B
The idea of community resilience has grown rapidly from a concept virtually unknown in the disaster field to a major focus of research, policy, and practice. Many sessions at the 40th Annual Natural Hazards Workshop will explore dimensions of disaster resilience, resilience measurement, and strategies for enhancing resilience. This plenary session highlights large-scale national and global programs aimed at making communities and societies resilient to the sudden shocks associated with extreme events and chronic sources of stress.
