Earlier this month, we released the call for contributions to the 2019 Natural Hazards Research and Applications Workshop, which is centered around the theme of convergence. Convergence is the process of people joining forces to respond to pressing challenges and enduring problems—something the hazards and disasters community does often and will need to more regularly in these times of increased risk.

We appreciate all the great submissions we’ve gotten so far. However, in light of the lengthy partial government shutdown, we wanted to ensure that all of our partners from federal, state, and local government, academia, and the non-profit and private sectors have a chance to contribute. We are therefore extending the deadline to Monday, February 11.

Please submit your ideas soon! We are eager to learn about how you are joining together with others to solve tough challenges. Please read the 2019 thematic statement, and contribute your ideas using our online submission form. We look forward to hearing from you!
