You might have missed the 2010 SSA Annual Meeting, but a visit to the group’s Earthquake Debates page is the next best thing to being there—especially since they’ve posted video of three ground-shaking debates … or at least three debates on ground shaking. Experts address both sides of issues such as earthquake recurrence, Richter scaling vs. characteristic distribution, and the value of seismicity simulators. The International Flash Flood Laboratory at Texas State University has compiled an archive documenting the June flooding in Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and West Virginia, as well as in France. The archive contains news reports and has been updated daily. Links to other flash flood resources are included.
