This webcast will serve as an open meeting of the advisory committee for the Climate Communications Initiative of the National Academies. The initiative aims to coordinate efforts across the Academies to address public questions about climate change, communicate and disseminate climate information, and provide easy access to evidence-based findings for various audiences. The purpose of the open session is to provide oversight and guidance for the initiative plan and public input is welcome.

This webinar will feature the research of visiting Fulbright scholar Anna Kukkonen as she examines comparative climate change politics and media debates on climate change in five different countries: the United States, Canada, Brazil, India and Finland. Kukkonen is specifically interested in the formation of advocacy coalitions, the centrality of international organizations and the role of moral justification in the climate change debate.
