Colorado State University
Alyssa Stansfield is an National Science Foundation atmospheric and geospace sciences postdoctoral research fellow at Colorado State University in the Department of Atmospheric Science. She utilizes high-resolution atmospheric models to study how tropical cyclones are impacted by climate change, with a focus on their rainfall. The motivation behind her research is to understand how high-impact extreme weather events will change due to climate change so society can be better prepared for their impacts in the future. She is also interested in science communication and often participates in outreach opportunities to share her research or general information about climate change with the public. She received her PhD in atmospheric science from Stony Brook University in May 2022 and her bachelor’s in meteorology from Rutgers University.
