Barbara Carby

Barbara Carby is a Disaster Risk Management expert with experience in the public sector and academia. She was director-general of the Office of Disaster Preparedness, Jamaica and founding director of Hazard Management Cayman Islands, and former director of Disaster Risk Reduction Centre, University of the West Indies.

Carby's research interests include integrating knowledge bases for DRM and DRM planning for Persons with Disabilities. She has served in a voluntary capacity on several United Nations and other committees and has received national honors from Jamaica and France. When not advocating for risk reduction Carby enjoys training dogs and gardening.
