Bingyu Zhao is a post doctoral researcher at the University of California, Berkeley. She obtained her PhD degree from the University of Cambridge. Zhao develops city and regional scale traffic simulations to explore disaster evacuation scenarios (counterflow, departure time, etc.) and to model the recovery process (the loss and recovery of traffic efficiency associated with infrastructure damage and repair). In addition, Zhao combines traffic simulations with pavement degradation models to simulate vehicle emissions at a city level, leading to traffic emission mitigation recommendations from a combined traffic operation and road infrastructure maintenance perspective.
