Ian Whalen

Ian Whalen graduated from the University of Mississippi with a bachelor's in history and a master's in sociology. His master's thesis, "Discreet Only: An Exploration of Discreet Practices in a Mississippi Town," explored how openly gay and bisexual men navigate and construct their identity on the mobile dating app Grindr. Whalen's most recent research is a collaborative project with Rachel Rinaldo, which focuses on the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on families with children and the division of labor. His general research interests include gender, men and masculinities, and virtual methodologies.
