Jody Jahn received a PhD from the University of California, Santa Barbara and uses mixed methods to examine how members of hazards organizations, primarily wildland firefighting work groups, communicate to negotiate action and how members interface with organizational safety policies and documents. Emerging research, funded by the United States Joint Fire Science Program, examines how multiple stakeholders in wildland urban interface (WUI) areas frame their perspectives (e.g., support, opposition, etc.) to fuel treatments. Her work appears in Management Communication Quarterly, and Journal of Applied Communication Research, among other venues.
