John Knox studies atmospheric hazards and their impacts on a variety of scales. His research foci include aviation turbulence, tornado debris, and windstorms associated with mid-latitude cyclones. Knox earned a PhD in atmospheric sciences from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is the Josiah Meigs Distinguished Teaching Professor in the department of geography and undergraduate coordinator of the Atmospheric Sciences Program at the University of Georgia.
