Jon Wolseth is a community development specialist with Iowa State University (ISU) Extension and Outreach. He holds a doctorate in cultural anthropology from the University of Iowa and a master's in community and regional planning from Iowa State University. Previous research projects include studying community factors in preventing youth and gang violence in Honduras, as well as street culture of homeless and working children in the Dominican Republic. Wolseth specializes in civic engagement with diverse constituencies, using his skills as an anthropologist to amplify the voices of under-represented audiences. His work with ISU Extension and Outreach focuses on strengthening Latino and immigrant small businesses and community integration and adaptation.
