Leslie Irvine
Leslie Irvine is a professor of sociology at the University of Colorado Boulder. Her research focuses on human-animal relationships. She has studied animal welfare in disasters for nearly two decades, focusing mainly on the evacuation, rescue, and sheltering of pets. Her publications include Filling the Ark: Animal Welfare in Disasters. She has also studied homeless people’s relationships with their pets, animal shelters, animal abuse, animals in popular culture, and the feminization of veterinary medicine. Leslie also directs the Animals and Society Certificate Program at the University of Colorado Boulder.
