Jeranko is a PhD candidate in anthropology at the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill. She employs mixed methods to analyze how different types of successive disasters (e.g. El Niño, earthquake, floods, COVID-19) and subsequent initiatives (e.g. provision of workshops and housing) impact long-term reconstruction processes, particularly with relation to gender relations within households and communities in a fishing village in coastal Ecuador. She has a MA in Latin American Studies from the University of Florida and a BA in sociology and English language from the University of Ljubljana. Her research has been funded by the National Science Foundation, Natural Hazards Center, and UNC-Chapel Hill.
