Mary Alice Scott is an associate professor of anthropology at New Mexico State University (NMSU), and a researcher at the Southern New Mexico Family Medicine Residency Program. She received her bachelor's of women’s studies from Duke University, and her master's and doctoral degrees in anthropology from the University of Kentucky. Scott's research program includes academic and community collaborations with NMSU students and faculty, the residency program, and community agencies. It includes explorations of cultures of medicine and medical education, development of curricula and tools to improve health equity training in health care professions, and exploration of the root causes of health disparities in local communities.
