Mehmet Ulak received a PhD from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Florida A&M University-Florida State University College of Engineering. He currently works as a postdoctoral associate in the Department of Civil Engineering at Stony Brook University. Ulak'ss research interests span from transportation safety, mobility, and accessibility to emergency response and disaster analysis. Of the various subjects, he is interested in broad interdisciplinary areas including the statistical and spatial analysis of urban and rural problems, geospatial analysis, big data applications and data mining, socio- demographic assessment of natural hazards, and smart city concepts.
