Michael Shelly is an environmental/sustainability economist and a research assistant professor at the University at Buffalo (UB), New York. His research areas include the social/health burden of power outages, plastics recycling, tire recycling, and the climate implications of waste. In addition, he teaches a master’s level course on environmental and sustainability economics, and is a member of UB’s carbon pricing group. He holds a PhD in economics from the University of Edinburgh, a Master of Arts in economics from the University of Warwick, and a Bachelor of Science in economics from Queen Mary, University of London.
