Natural Hazards Center

Nya Simmons is an undergraduate research assistant at the Natural Hazards Center. She is majoring in psychology with a minor in dance at the University of Colorado Boulder. After graduation, she plans to attend graduate school and pursue a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis on childhood development. She has a passion for cultivating supportive and sustainable communities by bringing awareness to mental health and how it impacts our emotions and behaviors. She hopes to work directly with families and children in order to break cycles of trauma, increase social cohesion, and encourage greater support and love.  Through her undergraduate career, she has been blessed with a loving community, but her best friend has to be her pug Luna Bee!
