Pierce Greenberg is an assistant professor of sociology at Creighton University. His primary research interest is environmental inequality related to coal mining in Appalachia. Through both spatial analysis and survey research methods, his work seeks to understand how environmental inequality forms and how it is maintained over time. In addition to formal academic research, he is also involved in applied and policy-related research on other topics related to spatial inequalities—specifically evictions. In 2020, he launched the Social Science Data Lab at Creighton University with a report on the connection between racial segregation and evictions in Omaha.
