Rachel Norton is a PhD candidate in health and behavioral sciences at the University of Colorado Denver. She holds a bachelor's in geography and Spanish from Middlebury College and received a master's in environmental studies from the University of Colorado Boulder. She has held a variety of research positions throughout her graduate school career with a focus on disaster vulnerability and resilience, including work with ISET-International, the University of Colorado Denver, NCAR, and BoCo Strong. She currently works for NCAR on a research project examining the food, energy and water nexus in Boulder County. Her interest in disaster research stems from her experience living in the Dominican Republic during the 2010 earthquake in Port-au-Prince, Haiti and from witnessing the social impacts of that event on the town where she was living at the time.
