Rob A. DeLeo is an associate professor of public policy at Bentley University. His research focuses on preparedness policymaking. His most recent book, Anticipatory Policymaking: When Government Acts to Prevent Problems and Why It Is So Difficult, examines the dynamics of policy change in anticipation of emergent hazards, like novel diseases and other types of slow onset events. His work has appeared in Policy Studies Journal, Risk, Hazards, & Crisis in Public Policy, Policy & Politics, Critical Policy Studies, Polity,  as well as various other peer-reviewed journals and edited volumes. DeLeo’s current research projects seek to model the relationship between problem indicators and agenda setting in public risk domains. He is also devising a nationwide survey examining the institutional factors that contribute to legislative myopia. His teaching focuses on public policy theory as well as hazards and disasters policymaking.
